2026 Northumberland Turkey Trot
The event takes place on October 12, 2026 at Cobourg YMCA, 339 Elgin St W, Cobourg, Ontario. It supports the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign to reduce financial barriers for children, teens, adults and seniors.
Distances and formats:
- 5K - timed event, double loop of the 2.5K course.
- 2.5K - timed run or walk.
- 1K Wing Ding - untimed kids fun run.
- Gobble Wobble - free activity for ages 4 and under.
- Choose Your Own Adventure - virtual or custom participation through October.
The route starts at the YMCA and runs through the Cobourg Conservation Area. Most of the course is grass with uneven ground and small rolling hills. Bibs are assigned at the event.
Awards and finishes: finisher medals available for the first 400 registrants in the 2.5K and 5K; kids medals for the 1K with a 150-child limit. Top three male and female finishers are recognized in categories 18 and under and 19 plus. The Golden Drumstick Award honours notable turkey spirit; draw prizes are also given.
Practical notes: accommodations can be arranged to support inclusion. Dogs are not allowed on the course during running events but leashed dogs may be in the start/finish area. Strollers should remain off the course; the 2.5K is suitable for carrying young children in a backpack or sling.
