About the race
The Northumberland Turkey Trot takes place on October 12, 2026 at the Cobourg YMCA, 339 Elgin St W, Cobourg, ON. The event raises funds for the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign and offers multiple participation options for families and individuals.
Distances and main activities:
- 5K timed run, double loop of the 2.5K course
- 2.5K timed run/walk
- 1K Wing Ding Kids Fun Run untimed, finisher medals for participants
- Gobble Wobble activity for children 4 years and under
- Choose Your Own Adventure virtual option, completable by the end of October
Course and logistics: the on-site course runs through the Cobourg Conservation Area, mostly on grass with uneven ground and small rolling hills. Bibs are assigned at the event; on-site check-in and race-day registration are available. Timed results apply to the 2.5K and 5K events. Awards include top finishers by male and female in two age categories (18 and under; 19 plus), the Golden Drumstick Award for turkey spirit or best costume, and draw prizes.
Participation notes: finisher medals are provided to the first 400 registrants in the 2.5K and 5K; kids medals are limited to 150. Dogs are not permitted on the course during running events; leashed dogs are allowed in the start/finish area. Strollers should remain off the course during running events; the 2.5K may accommodate children carried in a backpack or sling. A family discount code (FAMILY25) applies when registering two adults and up to four children in the same transaction. Registration fees vary by date and category and are the same as last year.
