Northfield 5K & One Mile Kids' Race
Central Vermont Runners and the Vermont Senior Games Association present the 47th annual Northfield 5K and One Mile Kids' Race in downtown Northfield at Depot Square on September 5, 2026. The event includes two distances:
- 5K for ages 10 and up.
- 1 Mile for ages 6 to 11.
The 5K course begins in front of the Northfield Savings Bank on Route 12. Mile markers will be posted and a water station is located at the midpoint; course maps will be available. The Kids One Mile starts near the Northfield Post Office, continues up the hill, and returns to the Depot Square finish via South Street, Central Street, and Wall Street.
Race day bib pickup is at Depot Square near the stage, with separate pickup windows for the Kids One Mile and the 5K. Strollers, headphones, and dogs are not allowed in the races. Minors under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver.
Registration fees vary by date. For the 5K there is a reduced online fee for ages 65+ and ages 10 to 19. The Kids One Mile offers medals for all finishers and prizes for top three male, female, and nonbinary finishers in age groups 6 to 8 and 9 to 11.
CVR will award age group prizes for the 5K in five-year groups from 10-14 through 90+. VSGA will award gold, silver, and bronze medals to the top three finishers over age 50 in five-year groups. Proceeds benefit Central Vermont Runners and the Vermont Senior Games Association. Port-a-lets and on-street parking are available near Depot Square.
