About the race
The North Reading 5K Turkey Trot is a community running and walking event held in North Reading, Massachusetts, with both a 5K race and a 1.75 mile walk that start and finish at Ipswich River Park on Central Street. The event is sponsored by the North Reading Hornet Hall of Fame Committee and raises funds for two scholarships for graduating seniors at NRHS and for the North Reading Middle/High School sports program.

The event accepts up to 1,500 entrants. Age categories run from "10 and Under" through "70 and Over" (10 and Under; 11–13; 14–18; 19–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50–59; 60–69; 70 and Over). Overall female and male winners receive the Frederick A. Keyes Memorial Award. Top two women and men in each age category and the top two families (families of four runners) receive prizes; prizewinners will be notified by email or mail.
Registration opens February 27, 2026; pre-registration through November 8, 2026 offers lower fees and a guaranteed short-sleeve t-shirt size (50/50 cotton/polyester). Fees vary by category: students, adults, and family options with different pre-registration and later registration prices; a service fee is added at checkout.
Pre-race bib pickup is available at Marathon Sports, 668 Main Street, Reading, MA (weekend before the event) and at the North Reading Middle/High School cafeteria the day before the event. A food drive for the North Reading Food Pantry will accept donations during pre-race number pick-up. Strollers are welcome; dogs and bikes are not permitted because roads are not closed to traffic and many children participate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
