North Downs Way Ultra Run
The event is a guided trail run of 30 miles on the North Downs Way, starting and finishing at St Martha's Hill in Guildford, Surrey. It is scheduled on specific dates in 2027 and follows parts of the North Downs and surrounding Surrey Hills.
The route passes through small villages and notable sites including Denbies Wine Estate and the top of Box Hill, then follows the North Downs Way westbound to Newland's Corner and back to St Martha's church. Participants stop at the top of Box Hill for a drink and cake.
The run is led by an experienced ultra runner and coach who manages the route and offers guidance during the day. The format is not a race; runners move as a group, often hiking steeper climbs and regrouping regularly. Organisers advise participants to have run at least 22 miles in training and to be comfortable maintaining an average trail pace of around 10 minutes per mile (6:15 per km) for prolonged periods. Faster runners should expect some sections at an easier, more social pace.
A full kit list is provided before the event. Practical arrangements include a car park at the meeting point and a nearby train station reachable by a short run or taxi. The stated cost is £55 per person. An alcohol-free beer may be offered at the end of the run, subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
