North Desoto Griffin Run
The 15th Annual Griffin Run is a community running event held on the campus of North Desoto High School in Stonewall. Organized by the PTO of North DeSoto Upper Elementary, the event serves as a fundraiser to provide equipment and supplies for the school.
The event features two distinct distances:
- 5k
- 1/2 Mile Fun Run
The courses are located entirely within the North Desoto campus. The 1/2 Mile Fun Run takes place exclusively on the high school track, allowing spectators to watch from the stands. The 5k race also begins on the track before continuing through the campus grounds.
Participants are divided into multiple age groups for competition, including 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Awards are presented to the overall male and female finishers, as well as the first and second-place finishers in each age category. Following the conclusion of the races, a post-event gathering is held featuring refreshments and the awards ceremony.
Specific regulations are in place regarding wheeled transport. Strollers, wagons, and baby joggers are permitted on the course for walking only. Inline skates, roller skates, and running with strollers are prohibited in accordance with RRCA regulations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
