North Carolina Spring Classic
The North Carolina Spring Classic is an annual running event held in downtown Holly Springs. Now in its 7th year, the race takes participants on a tour through scenic sections of the area. The start and finish lines are located on Main Street.
Participants can choose from several distances and categories:
- 16 km Run / Ruck
- 8 km Run / Ruck
- 5 km Run / Ruck
The 16 km course includes a section between miles 5.75 and 7.75 with a soft surface consisting of a wide, compact mulch trail around Bass Lake. The 8 km course is slightly longer than a standard 5 mile distance. The ruck options are part of a local challenge series; specifically, the 8 km Ruck serves as a qualifying distance for the Holly Springs Ruck Challenge.
The courses are supported by multiple aid stations. The 5 km features one station, the 8 km has three, and the 16 km provides four stations. Water is available at all stations, with electrolyte drinks also provided at the Bass Lake location. Total participation is limited to 500 runners, and the event has a course time limit of approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Strollers are permitted but must line up at the rear of the starting group. Pets are not allowed on the course. Following the races, the town hosts SpringsFest, featuring vendors, food trucks, and entertainment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
