Event overview
Norm's Helium Loops is a looped mountain running event held in Salcombe Regis (1st Sid Vale Scouts, EX10 0NY). The event uses a maximum running window of 12 hours. Each loop is 5.5 km long and includes 250 m of climbing. The organisers list best recorded loop counts in 24 hours as 29 loops and 24 loops. Entries for the 2026 event open 11 November 2025 and close 18 March 2026. Entry fees are shown on the organiser's entry system.
Format and practical details
Participants complete as many loops as they can within the event time. Distances used for official categories are:
- 4 loops - half marathon distance with 1,000 m height gain
- 8 loops - marathon distance
- 18 loops - 100 km
The event includes a fully marked course and an indoor event headquarters with toilets, showers and refreshments. First aid cover is provided. All participants receive a Norm’s Helium Loops memento. There is a prize for the overall winner (male and female). Camping on Saturday night is available on request.
