Norman Cole Penistone 10K
The event is a measured 10 km road race run around Penistone on roads and on the Trans-Pennine Trail, which uses an asphalt surface. The race was established more than 30 years ago and was previously known as the Penistone Show 10K.
Since 2022 the race has carried the name of a long-serving club member to recognise their contribution to the local running community. The event is organised under UK Athletics rules of competition.
Entry is by pre-entry with fees of £16 for England Athletics affiliated runners and £18 for unaffiliated runners. The minimum age on the day is 15. On-the-day entry is possible for an additional £2 provided the entry limit of 300 has not been reached; in 2024 and 2025 the race sold out well before race day.
Registration and parking are handled from Penistone Church Football Club, S36 6AT, with separate parking instructions issued by the organisers. The event has used several course layouts over time; races did not take place in 2020 and 2021. Recorded course bests include times on earlier and current courses, for example male and female records of 30:56 and 38:05 on the original course and 33:25 and 36:25 on the current course. A route map and GPX file are available for the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
