Noosa Ultra-Trail overview
The Noosa Ultra-Trail is a multi‑distance trail running event held in the Noosa region using the Noosa Trail Network and surrounding parks and reserves. Courses run through forests, national parks, state forests and rural areas and include sections on roads, tracks and singletrack.
There are seven race distances:
- Forest 15 km
- Cross Country 25 km
- Pomona Sundowner 30 km
- Mountain Marathon 45 km
- Out N Back 50 km
- Hinterland Traverse 80 km
- Ultra Trail 100 km
Race safety measures include marked courses, staffed trail markers and qualified medical personnel at checkpoints. Checkpoint provision varies by distance; the 100 km course has six checkpoints, the 80 km five, the 50 km three, and the 30 km, 25 km and 15 km each have one. Aid stations provide water, Tailwind nutrition and snacks. Some checkpoints do not have toilets.
Mandatory gear rules apply to events over 42.2 km. Required items include a mobile phone, rain jacket if rain is forecast, fluids and nutrition and a compression bandage. The 80 km and 100 km events also require an approved hi vis vest, a headlamp and a thermal top as conditions dictate. Race numbers must be worn on the front of the shirt.
The finish area for most events is at Noosa District Sports Complex. The event also highlights sustainability initiatives and reports a strong level of female participation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
