Event Overview
The Noonday Shanty is a running event offering a 5K and a 10K race. The event is managed by Orion Racing and professionally timed by Start2Finish Event Management. Registration funds go toward greenspace and trail projects in the Town Center area.
Race Details
Both races start and finish at Town Center at Cobb Mall in Kennesaw, Georgia. The 10K race begins first, followed by the 5K race. Both courses are paved and run on the Noonday Creek Trail and adjacent roadways. The event is notable as the first USA Track & Field-certified race on the Noonday Creek Trail. It is also an official qualifying event for the Peachtree Road Race.
Course & Experience
Participants run along the Noonday Creek Trail, which offers views of greenspaces and local attractions. These include Noonday Creek, Aviation Park, Cobb International Airport, Fifth Third Bank Stadium, and wetlands with bird habitats such as the Chimney Swift Tower. The course is suitable for runners, walkers, and families.
Registration & Perks
Registration includes a t-shirt. Participants can register as individuals or create teams, though all team members must choose the same race distance. Pre-race packet pickup is available the Thursday before the event at Big Peach Running in Kennesaw. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
