NOON Year's Eve 5K
The NOON Year's Eve 5K is an annual holiday running event held at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event features a midday celebration with a traditional countdown to mark the transition into the New Year. Participants navigate a certified cross-country course that consists of a crushed gravel surface, offering views of the local lake and parkland.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Kids Dash (approximately 0.20 to 0.25 miles)
The 5K course is designed for both runners and walkers on a flat terrain suitable for those aiming for specific time goals. Participants in this category receive a long sleeve branded shirt, a finisher medal, and post-race lunch and beverages. An environmentally friendly registration option is available for those who prefer to opt out of the shirt and medal while still accessing the post-race refreshments.
The Kids Dash is a short sprint that begins at the main starting line and follows a crushed gravel path to the finish. This distance is open to various age groups, and parents are permitted to accompany their children during the run. Children participating in the dash receive their own branded finisher medal upon completion. Awards are presented for overall performance and age groups, including a specific recognition for the fastest final mile of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
