The 5K is a certified cross country course on a crushed gravel surface that begins and ends in McAlpine Creek Park and passes lake and parkland areas. 5K entry is listed at $45 and the Kids Dash at $14. Registration is shown as open through December 31, 2025. A New Year’s Double bundle pairs this race with the Charlotte New Year’s Day 5K on January 1, 2026 and offers a $5 discount per event.
Awards include overall and age group prizes and a special award for the fastest last mile of 2025. 5K participants receive a long-sleeve race shirt, a finisher medal and post-race lunch and beverages; a "Go Green" option allows opting out of shirt and medal.
