Northampton 5K Cross Country Races
The Northampton 5K Cross Country Races are a weekly series established in 1987 and organized by the Sugarloaf Mountain Athletic Club. The series runs on Tuesdays from the first week in April through the last week in August on an accurately measured 5 km cross country course. The course passes through fields and woods and has a starting area near the Northampton Community Gardens on Burts Pit Road, about one mile from the center of town.
Races are held in most weather; organizers may consider canceling for very high temperatures or for lightning. Entry is day of registration only. The posted fee is seven dollars cash, with a slightly higher fee for card or mobile payments; participants under 17 run free. A season pass is offered with an advertised savings of fifty four dollars.
