About the race
The NMSU Sprint Triathlon is scheduled for October 24, 2026 at the NMSU Aquatic Center parking lot in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The event returns after a hiatus of more than ten years and was moved one week later from October 17 due to a scheduling conflict with the NMSU swim team. The race is held in run then bike then swim order with the transition area in the Aquatic Center parking lot. The run takes place as two laps around the fields behind the activity center and Sutherland Village.
The bike course follows the back side of the NMSU campus for seven laps. The swim is a traditional snake swim in the outdoor pool. Distances: - Run: 5 kilometer (3.1 miles), two laps around fields behind activity center - Bike: 20 kilometer (12.4 miles), seven laps around the back side of campus - Swim: 400 meter (0.25 mile) snake swim in NMSU outdoor pool Relay teams of three are offered. The relay captain registers and pays for the full team; team members then join the captain in registration and are free after the captain payment.
Individual registration fee is listed as $70 and the relay captain fee as $110. Finisher medals and race T shirts are provided to all participants. Top three individual male and female and top three relay teams receive shot glasses. Age group awards and weight class awards may be given depending on registrations.
