NMSU Sprint Triathlon
The NMSU Sprint Triathlon takes place on October 17, 2026 in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the NMSU Aquatic Center area. The event follows a run, bike, swim order and uses the Aquatic Center parking lot as the race start area. The transition area is located in the NMSU Satellite Water Facility Parking lot west of the Aquatic Center.
Distances for the sprint course are:
- 5 kilometer run (3.1 miles)
- 20 kilometer bike (12.4 miles)
- 400 meter swim (0.25 mile)
The run is two laps around the fields behind the activity center and Sutherland Village. The bike course is four laps around the NMSU campus, running from the Aggie Memorial Stadium to the DACC. The swim is a traditional snake swim in the outdoor pool.
A relay option is offered for three person teams with each participant completing one discipline. The relay captain registers and pays for the full team; team members register and have no additional cost after the captain pays.
Registered participants receive finisher medals and race T shirts. The top three individual male and female finishers receive branded shot glasses with place noted, and the top three relay teams receive custom shot glasses. Age group awards for the top three in each USAT age category may be given depending on registration numbers. Entry fees are listed as $70.00 for the individual sprint and $110.00 for the relay. No refunds will be issued and unclaimed entries are considered donations. Proceeds benefit the NMSU Triathlon Club and support student competition.
