NMC Hero Race

The NMC Hero Race is a superhero-themed running event in Traverse City, Michigan, coordinated by a college's Professional Communications class. The event offers three distances: a 1 Mile Fun Run, a 5K Run/Walk, and a 10K Run. The course winds around the Northwestern Michigan College Main Campus and proceeds out onto the Old Mission Peninsula.

Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite superhero costume. The 1 Mile Fun Run is free to enter, and every child participant receives a free cape. After the races, there are awards, prizes, food, and activities for children. The proceeds from the event sponsor College for Kids scholarships.
