New Mexico Chips and Salsa Half Marathon
The NM Chips and Salsa Half Marathon is an annual running event held in Albuquerque. Now in its 22nd year, the event features a variety of distances to accommodate different participants:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Kids K
- Virtual Run
The courses are designed as fast, flat loops that traverse the North Valley and Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. The half marathon distance has a 3.5-hour time limit. The event starts and finishes at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute on Coors Boulevard NW.
Participants receive official race shirts, and all finishers in the half marathon category are awarded custom medals. The event also provides awards for top overall performers and winners in specific age groups. Registration is available online, with a mail-in option and race-day registration also offered.
Packet pickup occurs on the Saturday prior to the race at a local athletic store, though out-of-town participants may collect their materials on the morning of the event at the race site. The competition coincides with local seasonal attractions such as the New Mexico State Fair and hot air balloon activities in the region.
