Event overview
The NIRCA Cross Country Open 6K is an annual race held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Blue River Country Course in Shelbyville, Indiana. The event precedes the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association National Championships. Spikes may be worn at the runner's discretion. The race will take place in rain or shine. Merchandise, including a limited-edition event tee and NIRCA-branded gear, will be available for sale at the event. A 6k course map is provided by the host course.
Registration and logistics
Online registration closes two days before the event and pricing increases starting November 1. The listed entry price is $30 for the community 6K; late and race-day registration will be available at the course. Parking will be free at Blue River Cross Country Course, 725 Lee Boulevard, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
There is a NIRCA Cross Country Nationals 12k/14k Challenge for collegiate athletes that combines the Open 6K with a separate collegiate race. Challenge participants must be registered in both the collegiate race and the Open 6K by the stated deadlines; top three fastest combined times will be recognized. Volunteer roles are available for the collegiate championship races, and volunteers receive event swag and a discount code for a complimentary Open 6K entry.
