Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon
The Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon is a mixed-terrain trail race located in Bridgend. The event is hosted at the Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre and follows a course through diverse landscapes including road sections and forestry trails. The route is fully marked for participants.
The course features approximately 13.1 miles of varied terrain divided into distinct segments:
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
The first eight miles of the course incorporate sections of the Hateful Eight route, featuring a combination of road sections with views of the surrounding area and a technical downhill forestry trail. This is followed by a segment of approximately five miles that includes mud, water, and significant inclines, including a feature known as the Hill of Doom. The final mile of the race is a flat, muddy stretch leading to the finish line.
The event provides on-site car parking, toilet facilities, and a medical team. Participants receive a bespoke medal upon completion, and the organizers provide hot and cold drinks, snacks, and seasonal items such as mince pies and Christmas cake. A prize is awarded for the best Christmas fancy dress costume. This event is open to participants aged 17 and older and has a limited capacity of 70 entrants.
