The Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon takes place on Saturday 19 December 2026 at Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre, Fountain Road, Aberkenfig, Tondu, Bridgend CF32 9BZ. The event is organised by Mad Running Junkies. Entry opens 5 December 2025 and closes 18 December 2026. Minimum age is 17 on the event date. Entry fees listed are £30 for entry only and £60 for entry with a T-shirt. Entry is limited to 70 participants. Registration is handled through SiEntries.
Course, rules and included services
The course is a mixed-terrain trail that includes a section of the "Hateful Eight" 8 mile route plus an additional about 5 miles to complete the half marathon. Features described include a significant hill, a road section with views, a downhill forestry trail that can be technical, mud and water sections, and a final flat muddy mile. The course will be fully marked. There is a prize for the best and most imaginative Christmas fancy dress; costumes must be runnable. The event provides car parking, toilet facilities, a bespoke medal, hot and cold drinks and snacks (including mince pies and Christmas cake), Christmas crackers, a medical team, and event volunteers.
