Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon
Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon takes place on 19 December 2026 at Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre in Bridgend, CF32 9BZ. The event is organised by Mad Running Junkies and is limited to 70 entrants. The minimum age to enter is 17.
The route uses a small section of The Hateful Eight 8 mile route, altered to include mixed terrain: a steep hill, a road section with views, and a downhill forestry trail that can be technical. Runners then face a further five and a bit miles with mud, water and a named steep climb referred to as the Hill of Doom, followed by a final flat muddy mile to the finish. The course will be fully marked.
Entries are open from 5 December 2025 until 18 December 2026. Entry options list an entry only fee and an entry plus t-shirt fee. The event notes facilities and services provided on the day, including car parking, toilet facilities, a medical team, hot and cold drinks and snacks, mince pies and Christmas cake, and volunteer support.
Participants receive a bespoke medal on completion. A prize is offered for the best and most imaginative Christmas fancy dress, with the reminder that participants must run in their costume. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
