NIC Color Fun Run
The NIC Color Fun Run is a not timed community event held on North Idaho College's Coeur d'Alene campus. Participants may walk, jog, roll or run a 5k course while volunteers toss colored powder at stations along the route. The event is open to NIC students, high school students and the public.
The color powder used is described as made from 100% natural ingredients, including cornstarch and natural dyes, and is not intended for consumption. The organizer notes the powder generally rinses out of clothing in a normal wash cycle and that inhaling large quantities is not recommended, particularly for people with respiratory issues. Bandanas and sunglasses are provided to participants who check in, while supplies last.
Entry fees are waived for current NIC students, current high school students and children aged 18 and under; community members pay a fee of $20 per participant. Participants who register and check in receive a t-shirt, sunglasses and a bandana while supplies last. Eligible participants are entered into a drawing for NIC scholarships. Alternative routes are available on the course for those who prefer to avoid the color stations. After the run, food and drink options are available for purchase and participants may use the campus beach area to relax. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
