ABP Newport Marathon Festival
The ABP Newport Marathon Festival is a mass-participation running event held in Newport, Wales. The festival features a variety of race distances to accommodate different participants:
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- Mile
- Junior Races
The course is noted for being one of the flattest marathon routes in Europe. Designed by double Olympic marathon runner Steve Brace, the route starts and finishes on Newport's riverfront. The layout includes several local landmarks such as the historic Castle, the Victorian Market, the Transporter Bridge, and the International Sports Village.
The marathon and half marathon courses also extend into the Gwent Levels, an area characterized by coastal wildlife and medieval villages. Because of the flat terrain, the event is frequently used by runners seeking to achieve personal best times.
An event village provides entertainment for both participants and spectators. The event is organized by Run 4 Wales (R4W) with support from Associated British Ports and Newport City Council. Accessibility options are available for athletes with disabilities, and a business challenge is offered for corporate teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
