Newport Spirit Run
The Newport Spirit Run takes place on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina in Newport Beach, California. The event is organized by Newport Mesa Spirit Run, Inc.
This community running festival has run for 42 years and in 2026 includes the first half marathon route to traverse Upper Newport Bay in more than 20 years. The event also hosts 5K and mile distances for adults and youth, plus shorter kids races. A Youth and Fitness Expo is located inside the resort next to the beach and the water.
The event introduces eco-friendly measures in collaboration with Newport Bay Conservancy, including no plastic bottles or gel wrappers on course and cup-less water stations with special consideration for elite competitors. The half marathon includes a limited run special edition shirt for adult half marathon participants. Youth participants receive a free youth shirt, with an option to select an adult size for an additional fee.
