Event Overview
The Newmarket 10K takes place in Newmarket, United Kingdom, and features a road race alongside junior events. The event is held on an undulating scenic route that utilizes open roads. Participants are required to follow the Highway Code throughout the course. The race is chip timed and follows UKA standards with both a race license and a course accuracy certification.
The following distances are available:
- 10 km road race for participants aged 15 and older
- 3 km junior race for children aged 10 to 14 years
- Junior Fun Run consisting of laps around a playing field for children aged 0 to 9 years
Facilities and Logistics
The event starts and finishes at the Ellesmere Centre in Stetchworth. On-site facilities include toilets, refreshments, and a hall. Medical support is provided by first aiders. Race numbers are collected at the registration desk on the morning of the event. Registration desks for the senior race close shortly before the start.
Participation and Awards
All finishers in the races receive a medal. For the 10 km event, prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the open category. Specific age category prizes are available for male and female runners in brackets from V40 to V70+, as well as an under-21 category. Team prizes are determined by the finishing positions of the first three runners from a club. For the junior races, trophies are awarded to the first boy and girl in each age group.
