About the race
The Riverfront 6K Run/Walk (Summer Riverfront 6K) is scheduled for August 29, 2027. Organized by the Purpose Runners Foundation with local partners, the event is a purpose-driven point to point race along the Newark waterfront and is part of the Four Seasons Run Series. Registration is not yet open.
Distances and event formats:
- 6K Run two laps inside Riverfront Park, USATF certified, relatively flat trail, two water stations
- Kids Fun Run on grass, distances vary by age
- Untimed 2 Mile Walk one lap around the park
Race amenities include chip timing, live race results by text and email, personalized bibs for early registrations, a finisher medal for all runners, marked course, water stations, a live DJ and music, wellness recovery station, free professional race photos, and sponsor gifts and giveaways.
Awards include trophies and prizes for the top three male and female finishers and age group awards in standard age brackets. Limited free event shirts are available to the first 100 registrants; a Collection Edition shirt is available for purchase online for a limited time. The event supports Kids Cancer Awareness and directs contributions from registrations to that cause.
Pre-race bib pickup is listed for Saturday, August 29, 3:00–5:00 PM at Beira Mar Restaurant, 18–20 Downing St., Newark, NJ, with free parking in the restaurant lot. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
