Riverfront 6K Run/Walk Purpose Runners 2027
The Riverfront 6K Run/Walk is a community road and park event organized by Purpose Runners Foundation with local partners including Insight Run Club, Newark City Parks Foundation, Newark Riverfront Park, and the Town of Harrison. The race is a point to point course that begins near the Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison and finishes at Newark Riverfront Park along the waterfront.
The main competition is a 6K on a USATF certified, relatively flat trail-track course consisting of two laps inside Riverfront Park with two water stations. A kids fun run takes place on grass with distances set by age group. An untimed two mile walk follows a single lap around the park.
Event amenities include chip timing, live race results by text and email, personalized bibs for registrations completed at least three weeks in advance, finisher medals, marked course, water stations, free professional race photos, a wellness recovery station, live music, sponsor giveaways, and a post-run social experience. Walk participation and the kids run are offered free as community activities.
The event supports Kids Cancer Awareness; registrations contribute to that cause. Awards include trophies and prizes for the top three male and female finishers and age group awards across standard age brackets.
