New York Harbor Oyster Classic 5K Run/Walk
The New York Harbor Oyster Classic is a 5K run/walk held on Governors Island. Governors Island is accessible by boat only; the ferry operates between the Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan and Soissons Dock on Governors Island, with the crossing taking approximately eight minutes. On the island, bag check and toilets are available near the NY Harbor School and the start/finish area. The event is held rain or shine and registration is nonrefundable.
Amenities at the event include water tables at the start and finish, water filling stations along the course, finish-line bagels with cream cheese and fresh fruit, and a Fishers Island Oyster for all finishers. All registrants receive a camping mug, and all finishers receive a handmade Oyster finisher medal.
Awards recognize overall top male and female finishers and top male and female in age groups including NY Harbor Students 18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus.
All proceeds directly benefit the NY Harbor School PTA and support the school's programs that work to restore New York Harbor waters while training students in piloting, diving, engineering, marine technology, climate work, and marine biology.
Bibs are mailed beginning 4/20. If registration occurs after 4/27, bibs must be picked up on race day. Live online, email, and text results are provided, along with free video and same-day finish line photos. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
