Event Format
The New York City Duathlon features a run-bike-run format. The event includes a Duathlon, a Team Relay Duathlon, and a volunteer option.
Distances
- Run: 2.2 miles (first leg).
- Bike: 12 miles (two 6-mile loops).
- Run: 2.2 miles (final leg).
Course Details
The event takes place in Central Park. The transition area and race start are at the Central Park Boat House parking lot. Both run legs follow an out-and-back course along the park's east side, turning around at the 96th street Margaret L. Kempner Playground. The run course includes Cat Hill at the start, with no other significant elevation gain. The bike course consists of two full loops on Central Park Drive, which includes Harlem Hill. The total elevation gain per bike loop is about 300 feet. Central Park remains open to the public during the event.
