Event overview
The New Years Day event at Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery in Elizabethtown, NC on January 1, 2026 includes a 5K, a Virtual 5K, and a "Sip & Stroll" option. The in-person 5K will be chip timed. The event is currently capped at 500 participants. Virtual participants receive a finisher medal and shipped swag for the continental US (lower 48 states). Shirts are available for purchase.
Logistics, fees, and awards
Regular registration prices (through December 27) list the 5K and virtual races at $26. Late and race-day fees are listed separately, and participants registered by December 22 are guaranteed swag in their size. Packet pickup is held on race morning beginning one hour before the race start.
Awards are offered for overall and age-group placements. Listed award categories include Top 3 Overall M/F, Top 3 Masters M/F, Top Grand Master M/F, Top Senior Master M/F, and Top 3 in standard 5-year age groups from 10 & under through 75+. Water stations are provided at approximately every 1.5 miles. The course uses signage; participants are advised to follow posted signs and not rely solely on other participants. Volunteer incentives include five free races and the possibility of a $50 gift card when specified recruiting and participation conditions are met.
