New Market STRONG Run/Walk and Festival
The New Market STRONG Run/Walk and Festival is a community event held in the historic streets of New Market, Maryland. This volunteer-run, non-profit initiative raises funds and awareness for breast cancer, specifically supporting the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund at the Frederick Health Hospital Cancer Center. The event commemorates the service and legacy of a former town clerk.
Participants follow a 3.1-mile (5 km) course that winds through historic neighborhoods and local streets. The race is officially timed by Racine MultiSports.

The event is open to individuals of all ages and is dog-friendly, provided pets remain on a leash. Following the run, a festival is held featuring live music, local vendors, and various food and beverage trucks. Family-oriented activities are also part of the post-race program.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top two finishers in several age categories, ranging from 14 and under to 70 and above. Team prizes are also awarded for categories such as most funds raised and team spirit. Free parking is available at the Community Park, on Main Street, and behind 39 W. Main.
