New Leash on Life 5K Run and 2K Dog Walk
The New Leash on Life event takes place in Crown Point, Indiana, at the YMCA Camp Triangle Hills & Retreat Center. This event supports New Leash On Life, a 501(c)(3) organization working to develop a state-of-the-art, no-kill animal shelter for the local community. The planned facility aims to provide medical services, animal housing, and a safe haven for pets of domestic violence victims.
Participants can choose from two different event distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 2K Non-Competitive Dog Walk
The 5K event is a chip-timed race. Registrants receive various benefits including a race t-shirt, a finisher medal, a swag bag, and a timed race bib. For those walking with their pets, dog-specific benefits include a medal charm and treats at the finish line. Items like t-shirts and medals are subject to availability based on the registration date.
Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in several age categories spanning from under 9 to over 70. Unique awards are also given for the largest and smallest dog finishers. Pre-race packet pick-up is available locally the day before the event, with onsite pick-up also provided on the morning of the races.
