New England Ostomy 5k
The Second Annual New England Ostomy 5k is a community event held at Wallis Sands State Park in Rye Beach, New Hampshire, in observance of Ostomy Awareness Day. The main event is a 5K fun run and walk where participants may walk, jog, run, roll, or pedal along a seaside course.
Children have a separate activity and a short 50 meter dash. The event includes a raffle with sports memorabilia and local team tickets, a kids activity area, and awards. Medals are awarded by age group, in ostomate categories, and for overall top finishers.
Registration fees include a unisex adult or youth T-shirt and a bib. Fundraising options are available: raising $125 or more results in a refund of the registration fee; higher fundraising tiers include an Empower level at $250 and a Champion level at $450, with awards to be determined. A referral program offers a $20 refund for inviting five other registered participants. Event registration protection insurance is available for an additional fee.
The event benefits the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc. (UOAA), a 501(c)(3) organization. The host site is the New Hampshire Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation. Volunteer opportunities are listed as part of the event program.
