New Castle 10K
The New Castle 10K offers a scenic waterfront route through the Seacoast region, starting and finishing at Great Island Common in New Castle, New Hampshire. The course, often referred to locally as the New Castle Loop, takes participants across four bridges and provides views of regional landmarks including the Portsmouth Shipyard, the naval prison, and the Piscataqua River. Runners can observe lobster boats, sailboats, and the lighthouse along the way, passing by the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel and Marina.
The event offers one distance:
- 10 km
Participants follow a marked course with two water stops located approximately every two miles. For those unable to attend the in-person event, a virtual participation option is available, allowing runners to complete the distance at their own location and submit their times via a unique link before the Monday following the race.
Amenities for participants include event T-shirts for the first 1,200 registrants across both in-person and virtual categories. Every finisher receives a medal and a link to a digital finisher video. Post-race refreshments such as water, bananas, and snacks are provided at the finish line area. General parking is facilitated by shuttle buses running between Portsmouth High School and Great Island Common, as street parking is prohibited on public streets in New Castle.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers by gun time, as well as the top three finishers in five-year age categories ranging from 19 and under to over 80. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
