New Albany Independence Day 5K (New Albany, OH)
The New Albany Independence Day 5K takes place on July 4, 2026, with the course starting and finishing at Market Square, 180 Market Street, New Albany, OH 43054. The event program includes a 5K Run and Walk, a Competitive Walk, a Virtual 5k, a Kids FUN Run, a Toddler Crawl, and a Pet Parade. The New Albany community parade follows the race.
All 5K participants receive official Independence Day t-shirts and medals. Kids FUN Run participants receive t-shirts; Toddler Crawl participants do not. Registrants who sign up by June 16 are guaranteed their preferred shirt size where available. The event uses chip timing and custom race bibs, features music at the start and finish, and includes live music along the course. Post-race food and drinks are provided, with cookies supplied by Cheryl’s Cookies.
Awards for the 5K and Competitive Walk include cash prizes—$100 for first, $50 for second, and $25 for third—and two complimentary tickets to a New Albany Symphony Orchestra performance for top three overall male and female finishers; age group top three finishers also receive symphony tickets and first-place age group winners receive a large apple pie. Age groups range from 9 & Under through 70 & Over.
Registration fees vary by date. The Kids FUN Run has a separate fee schedule; the Toddler Crawl and Pet Parade are free. Early packet pickup is scheduled for July 3 at Marburn Academy, 9555 Johnstown Rd., New Albany, OH. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
