Nepean Triathlon
The Nepean Triathlon is presented as Australia’s oldest triathlon and has been held since 1982. The event takes place at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, which has hosted the race since 1999. Over recent years the event has been run as part of the Redline Games Festival and offers multiple race formats and distances.
The program includes the following race distances:
- Nepean: 1 km swim, 30 km ride, 8 km run
- Classic: 2 km swim, 60 km ride, 18 km run
- Aquabike: 2 km swim, 60 km ride (no run leg)
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 20 km ride, 5 km run
- Super Sprint: 200 m swim, 8 km ride, 2.5 km run
The event attracts a wide range of participants, including elite athletes, age group competitors, first-time triathletes, and long-term regulars. The Nepean distance is identified as the original race and is presented as a core part of the event’s history. The Classic distance is described as a long-course endurance challenge across parts of Western Sydney.
