Ned's Wish Heroes Run 2026 - Bandit 5km
Ned's Wish presents the sixth annual Heroes Run on October 3, 2026, a dog friendly fundraising event that honours the RCMP police dog Bandit, who died in the line of duty in 2000. Participants and their canine companions are invited to run or walk a 5 km distance to commemorate Bandit's service.
The event supports retired police and military service dogs across Canada. In person host locations for 2026 include Ace's K-9 Care in Prince George, BC; York Regional Police at Tom Taylor Trail in Newmarket, ON; the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre at Red Deer Trails, AB; Canine Heroes Kennel in Coldstream, BC; and Campbell Valley Regional Park in Langley, BC. A virtual option allows participants to complete the 5 km from any location.
Several in person sites list additional activities. The Prince George host will include a pet fair with vendor booths, food trucks and a puppy yoga session with on site registration the morning of the event. Registration is offered with or without swag. The with swag option includes a t shirt designed by Thiessens Tattoo and a limited edition PSD Bandit memorial challenge coin; quantities are limited. With swag registrations are listed at CA$100 and without swag at CA$55. Virtual swag may be mailed and could arrive after race day. Fundraising features include individual fundraising links, recognition for top fundraisers, and a Ned's Wish hat for those who raise CA$1000 or more.
