NC AAZK Zoo Dash 5K: Race to Protect the Wild

The NC AAZK Zoo Dash 5K: Race to Protect the Wild is an annual event held at Jaycee Park in Greensboro, North Carolina. Organized by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers, this event raises funds for conservation organizations including the Turtle Survival Alliance, Anteaters and Highways, the Piedmont Land Conservancy, and NC AAZK.

The available distances for this event include:

  • 5 km Adult (Age 18+)
  • 5 km Youth (Age 17 and under)

The 5 km course is fully paved and features rolling terrain. The route begins at the Jaycee Park parking lot, leads participants through Country Park, and passes through the Greensboro Science Center's zoo. The finish line is located near the Rotary Club of Greensboro Carousel. While spectators are welcome in Country Park, they are not permitted on the portion of the course inside the Greensboro Science Center.

Participants must be able to complete the course within a 90-minute time limit. Registration is limited to 500 participants and includes a timing chip, a race t-shirt, and a general admission pass to the Greensboro Science Center. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 12 and under to 60 and over. Strollers are permitted on the course, though participants are advised that some sections are narrow. Only service animals are allowed on the grounds.
