NC AAZK Zoo Dash 5K: Race to Protect the Wild
The NC AAZK Zoo Dash 5K takes place May 30, 2026 at Jaycee Park in Greensboro, NC. The event is organized by the North Carolina chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers and supports conservation efforts locally and internationally. Beneficiaries include the Turtle Survival Alliance, Anteaters and Highways, Piedmont Land Conservancy, and NC AAZK.
The 3.1 mile route winds through Country Park and the Greensboro Science Center zoo. The course is fully paved with rolling terrain. The start is at the Jaycee Park parking lot and the finish is located near the Rotary Club of Greensboro Carousel. Spectators are not permitted on the course inside the Greensboro Science Center but may watch from Country Park.
The event is open to all ages. Runners and walkers may participate provided they can complete the course within 90 minutes. Strollers are allowed though some sections may be narrow or have uneven surfaces. Only service animals are permitted inside the Greensboro Science Center. Registration is limited to 500 participants. Online registration includes a timing chip, a race t shirt, and a general admission pass to the Greensboro Science Center. Registration fees are listed as $40 for adults and $35 for youth. The race will take place rain or shine and registration fees are nonrefundable.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and to the top three male and female finishers in each listed age category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
