The North Carolina 4th of July Festival Freedom Run
The event is a community running event held on June 27, 2026 at Southport Waterfront Park in Southport, North Carolina. The course runs along the downtown waterfront and passes through a nearby neighborhood with mature oak trees and views of the Cape Fear River. Awards are presented after the race day program.
A packet pickup and kickoff party takes place the day before the race at Cape Side Brewing. On race day there is a last-chance packet pickup at Southport Waterfront Park.
Two distances are offered:
- 5k Run/Walk - 3.1 Miles
- 1 mile Run/Walk - 1 Mile

For the 5k registration opens February 10, 2026 and closes February 28, 2026; the listed registration fee for the 5k is $30.
