2nd Annual Miles for Mammos 5K & 1-Mile Run/Walk
The Miles for Mammos event takes place at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, North Carolina. This second annual gathering focuses on breast health awareness and the support of local breast health services. The organized routes start and finish at the back of the hospital near the corner of 9th Street and Atlantic Avenue.
Participants can choose from the following event distances:
- 3.1 miles (5K)
- 1 mile
- Virtual 1 to 3.1 miles
The 3.1 miles event is a timed race, while the 1 mile fun run and walk is untimed. The virtual option allows participants to complete their chosen distance remotely without the requirement to submit results. Onsite amenities include two water stations located at the one-mile turnaround and the corner of Saint George and Lord Street.
All registered participants receive a commemorative race shirt, a race bib, and a finisher medal. Awards are presented for the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K, as well as the first-place finishers in various age categories ranging from 14 and under to 80 and up. Post-race activities include music, snacks, and water for participants.
The event proceeds benefit Dosher Memorial Hospital to support breast health advancements within the local community. Parking is available near the hospital, though specific restrictions apply to the emergency department lot and local business parking areas.
