Event overview

NAV4 LAW75 is a two-day winter navigation event held Saturday 7 to Sunday 8 February 2026. The route runs from Skipton to Appleby and follows Lady Anne's Way with minor sections on The Dales Way and Pennine Journey. The advertised distance is 75 miles. Entry fee is £150. Entries open 29 May 2025 and close 25 January 2026; there are 100 places available and 23 participants listed so far. The event organiser is NAV4.

Route, support and logistics

The route starts at Skipton Castle and finishes at the Market Cross in Appleby, with a finish reception venue 100 m away at The Hub. Major indoor checkpoints are at Kettlewell (23 m), Askrigg (38 m) and Winton / Kirkby Stephen (61 m). These major checkpoints provide hot and cold drinks, soup, food, toilets, seating and access to drop bags. Minor vehicle points are sited every 6-8 miles offering water and hot drinks and serving safety and communications roles. Each participant will carry a GPS tracker provided by Open Tracking. A drop bag system is used; participants receive a 20 litre drybag that moves to the three major checkpoints. Public transport links mentioned include the Settle-to-Carlisle railway and local buses for access and recces. The organiser will offer official recce days for part of the route.

Mandatory winter kit is specified and includes waterproofs, multiple thermal layers, an emergency overlayer, hat and gloves, survival bag, headtorch with spare batteries, map, compass and whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and water.
