Course Details
The marathon course begins at the Hancock County Courthouse in Carthage, Illinois. Runners proceed on a route that passes by Carthage Jail and runs adjacent to a historic 22-mile trail. The course travels mostly on paved roads, winding through scenic farmland between Carthage and Nauvoo. The terrain is described as paved with small areas of gravel. The finish line is at the Willard Richards Inn on White Street in Nauvoo, where participants run down Main Street lined with spectators. The Fun Run is a non-timed 2 mile event held within Nauvoo.
Additional Information
Aid stations with porta-potties are set up approximately every 2 miles along the marathon route. The estimated number of marathon runners is 150. A pre-race pasta party is offered on Friday, April 24, at the Inn at Old Nauvoo. Packet pick-up is available on Friday. Post-race festivities are held at the finish line venue, and all finishers receive a custom medal.
