  • 5 Mile Run
  • 5k Run
  • 5K Walk
  • 1 Mile Run/Walk

Course Details

The 5k and 5 mile courses begin with 1.25 laps around the courthouse square. Participants head south on Madison Street, then navigate through local streets including Cherry Street, Marion Street, and Wabash Avenue. The 5k route involves a turnaround point near US Highway 136 before retracing steps to the finish line at the corner of Wabash and South Madison.

The 5 mile course diverges at West Street, crossing US Highway 136 to enter Jaycee Park. This route follows the lake road, passes a golf course, and ascends a section known as dump hill. Runners then follow Fayette Street and Wabash Street to reach the finish.

Participation Details

Participants in the 5 mile and 5k events who register by May 1st receive a T-shirt. For the 1 mile event, participants may purchase a shirt during the registration process by the same deadline. Awards for the 5 mile run are organized into age groups ranging from 13 and under to 70 and over. The 1 mile fun run provides ribbons to the top two male and female finishers in each age category from 5 to 12 years old, as well as a plaque for the overall first-place male and female finishers. Net proceeds from the event are donated to Hancock County Fights Cancer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
