Event overview
The 2026 National K9 Veterans Day run takes place on March 13, 2026 at Byron Ave Park, 6500 Byron Ave, Springfield, VA. The event is organized by Bishops Events. Points earned count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Winter Series. A virtual race option is offered. Walkers and strollers are welcome. The race benefits Paws for Purple Hearts, an organization that provides assistance dogs and canine-assisted therapeutic programs for veterans with mobility and trauma-related conditions.

The course is paved and features one considerable hill at the halfway point; the 10k is an out-and-back route run twice. The event is chip timed and participants receive a finisher’s medal and a technical Drifit event shirt. Water stations: three on the 10k at approximately mile 1.55, 2.1, and 4.65; one on the 5k at approximately mile 1.55. Gatorade is available at some stations. Port-a-johns are located near the start/finish parking lot. Packet pickup is available at the event; entrants are advised to arrive about one hour before their start. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before March 3; extras may be available afterward on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration fees listed include reduced rates before February 28 and a $5 increase on race morning; race day registration is available.
