National Capital 20 Miler and Janet Braunstein 5 Miler
The event takes place October 3, 2026 at Carderock Recreation Area on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath in Potomac, Maryland. It offers an out-and-back course described as flat and fast, with water and nutrition support provided at regular intervals. All participants receive race swag.
Two distance options are offered:
- 20 Miles
- 5 Miles
Registration opens June 1, 2026. The 20 Miler registration closes July 31, 2026; the 5 Miler registration closes September 12, 2026. Published entry fees are $65.00 for the 20 Miler and $35.00 for the 5 Miler. Members of DC Road Runners receive $15 off the 20 Miler fee and $5 off the 5 Miler fee; the discount is applied through the RunSignUp account associated with the membership.
Prize structure is specified by event. Janet Braunstein 5 Miler awards overall male and female places with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. National Capital 20 Miler awards include overall male and female cash prizes and masters overall prizes, plus age group awards paid three deep for these categories: 19 and under; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70 and over.
