Nasty 9 Trail Run, September 19, 2026
The event is a trail running race held at Brushy Hills, a 600 acre watershed tract on the outskirts of Lexington, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. The courses use only the single track trails maintained by volunteers from the Friends of Brushy Hills and the Rockbridge Area Conservation Council.
Two race distances are offered:
- 9 Miler: about 9 miles, over 2000 feet vertical gain
- 4 Miler: about 4 miles, about 500 feet of climbing
Proceeds support the Friends of Brushy Hills and the track and cross-country teams at Rockbridge County High School, Parry McClure High School, and Maury River Middle School. Entry fees listed for the event are $60 for the 9 Miler and $45 for the 4 Miler. A student discount is available.
Online registration closes the Thursday before the race. Packet pickup and late registration are available in person the day before at a local running shop and at race headquarters on race day. Participants receive a race shirt, post-race food, and finishers and age group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
