Nail the Rail Half Marathon, 10K & 5K : Shasta Lake, CA
The Nail the Rail event on April 25, 2026 offers three distances that use the Sacramento Rail Trail starting at the base of Shasta Dam. The field is limited to 400 participants and the course runs beside the Sacramento River and Keswick Lake.

The route follows a converted Southern Pacific Railroad track that extends for over 11 miles. The trail is described as very flat and fast. The race start and finish are located at the Chappie OHV area at the base of Shasta Dam; after crossing Shasta Dam runners follow the road down to the OHV area.
Awards and timing details are provided for the race. Finisher awards are given to half marathon finishers. Age group awards are three deep and overall awards are included. A cutoff time of 3 hours 15 minutes applies to the half marathon.
Registration and packet pickup details are listed for participants. Race day registration and packet pickup open at 7am at the OHV area. Packet pickup and registration are also scheduled on Friday from 11am to 3pm at Redding Fleet Feet Store, 1376 Hilltop Dr. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
