Nail the Rail Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
This event uses the converted Sacramento Rail Trail, a former Southern Pacific Railroad track that begins at the base of Shasta Dam and runs for more than 11 miles. The course follows the river and Keswick Lake shoreline and is described as very flat and fast.
The event field is limited to 500 participants. Races on offer include:
- Half Marathon 13.1 miles
- 10K
- 5K
- Virtual Half Marathon 13.1 miles
The start and finish are located at the Chappie OHV area at the base of Shasta Dam; after crossing Shasta Dam the route follows the road down to the OHV area. The half marathon has a cutoff time of 3 hours 15 minutes. Finisher awards are given to half marathon finishers; age-group awards are offered three deep plus overall awards.
Packet pickup and registration are available on the Friday before the event from 11:00 to 15:00 at Redding Fleet Feet Store, 1376 Hilltop Dr. Race-day registration and packet pickup open at 07:00 at the Chappie OHV area.
