Nacogdoches Multicultural Festival 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Nacogdoches Multicultural Festival includes a running event featuring two distinct distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 1 Mile
Participants gather in the parking lot of St. Mary’s Church at 214 Wettermark Street. The course for both the 5K and the 1 mile distance winds through the SFA campus. This event marks the start of the 3rd annual festival race, providing a route through the local university grounds. Following the completion of the races, an awards ceremony is held to recognize winners in each category.
The run serves as the opening activity for the broader Multicultural Festival weekend held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. This long-standing community celebration has taken place for 35 years, highlighting various heritages including Filipino, Mexican, Vietnamese, Indian, German, and American cultures. While the races take place on Saturday morning, the festival continues through Sunday afternoon.
The festival grounds offer a variety of cultural experiences, including traditional food, music, and dance performances. Additional activities on site include a silent auction, a raffle, local vendors, and family-oriented entertainment such as bounce houses and a petting zoo. The event is located within the Piney Woods region of Texas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
