24th Annual NAACP George V. Tankard, Jr. Memorial 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run
This event is a community road race held in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. The main 5K route runs through the streets of Oak Bluffs, circles the harbor and East Chop, and offers views of Vineyard Sound. The 5K course is USATF certified. The 1 mile event is for children 12 years and under and follows an out-and-back route to the East Chop Beach Club; strollers and accompanying parents are permitted.

Race logistics include bib pickup at the Summercamp Hotel on Friday, September 18 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm and on race morning from 8:00 to 9:00. Registration opens April 21 and closes September 18. Fees are listed as twenty dollars for the 5K and ten dollars for the kids fun run. Prizes are presented after the race at the Summercamp Hotel; trophies go to the top male and female finishers and medals are awarded to winners in various age categories.
Proceeds support the Martha's Vineyard chapter of the NAACP, the Island chapter founded in 1963. Funds are directed to the NAACP Scholarship Fund for Martha's Vineyard high school seniors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
