MVHS Cares Gobblepalooza Turkey Trot & Wellness Walk
This community running and wellness event takes place at Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Virginia on November 21, 2026. The course begins and ends at the school Entrance #4 and uses a VDoT-approved route that runs through nearby neighborhoods. The event includes on-course music and volunteers handing out fruit and water at the finish area. The event is held rain or shine.
Distances offered:
- 5K: 3.1 miles
- 10K: 6.2 miles
The 10K course follows an adjusted route that requires participants to complete two loops through the main gate; 5K participants complete a single loop. Pre-race packet pick-up is scheduled for the day before the event on November 20, 2026. Race-day registration is available at higher fees than advance registration. A special $5 discount applies for FCPS students and staff, federal employees, and military families; discounted eligibility must be confirmed at packet pick-up with appropriate ID.
The event supports MVHS Cares fundraising goals, including music therapy support, service and leadership scholarships, school education initiatives, social service and wellness initiatives, and after-school club and athletics programs. Road closures on local streets will affect Battersea Lane, Route 235, Cunningham Drive, Wessynton Way, and Woodland Lane; vehicles will be redirected and bus routing will be adjusted.
