Event overview
Mutts & Marshmallows takes place in Cary, North Carolina, in January 2026 with both an in-person race and a virtual option. The event offers multiple race distances and family-oriented activities. Finishers of the 5K, 8K, and Fun Mile receive a ceramic mug and a finishers medal (guaranteed for registrations by December 28). Virtual participants receive medal and gift shipping included for specified virtual events. The event supports the SPCA of Wake County.

Entries and logistics
Dogs may run only in the Doggie Dash 5K and Doggie Dash 8K. A $10 dog registration fee applies and is donated to the SPCA of Wake County. New insurance guidelines limit one dog per registered runner and require dogs to remain on leashes; participants must register their dogs. Children aged 12 and younger are not allowed in the Doggie Dash events. The organizer, Fit & Able Productions, is a nonprofit that directs proceeds not otherwise designated to support the event and other Fit & Able activities. The RaceJoy mobile app is offered as part of the race experience, providing live GPS tracking, GPS progress alerts, send-a-cheer functionality, and virtual results for virtual events.
