Mutt Strut - Tails Humane Society (DeKalb, IL)
Mutt Strut is a community fun walk and run organized by Tails Humane Society at Hopkins Park in DeKalb on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The event offers two course options:
- 1 mile walk
- 5K walk/run
The event benefits Tails Humane Society and the roughly 2,200 homeless pets the organization cares for each year. Net proceeds support daily and medical care for animals in the shelter, including food, litter, medicine, and surgical procedures. Dogs are welcome to participate at the event.
Packet pick up is available the day before at Hopkins Park and there is race day registration and packet pick up at the park on event day. Race parking is provided in nearby pool or park district lots, and additional parking is available across Sycamore Road at Zana’s Wood Fire Pizza with a pedestrian tunnel to cross Safely. The event is presented as a fun run/walk and will not be officially timed.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. By attending, participants grant Tails Humane Society permission to photograph and record their likeness and participation for promotional, educational, or fundraising purposes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
