About the race
The Mutt Strut is a community fundraising walk and run hosted in DeKalb on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Hopkins Park (1403 Sycamore Road). The event offers both a short walk and a longer walk or run.

Proceeds support Tails Humane Society and the approximately 2,200 homeless pets the organization cares for each year. Funds from the event are used for daily animal needs, including food, litter, medicine, and surgical procedures.
Packet pick up is available the day before at Hopkins Park and there is race day registration and packet pick up on the event day. The event is described as a fun run/walk and will not be officially timed. Dogs are welcome to participate.
Parking is available in nearby pool or park district lots and at Zana’s Wood Fire Pizza across Sycamore Road; a tunnel under Sycamore Road is noted for safe crossing. Attending the event also grants Tails Humane Society permission to photograph or record participants for promotional, educational, or fundraising use.
