About the race
Mustang's Milestone 5K marks the 10th anniversary of Hallie Wells Middle School and raises funds for the school’s educational programs and end-of-year celebration. The event is a community road run covering 3.1 Miles, with start and finish at Hallie Wells Middle School and a course that passes through Ovid Hazen Wells Recreational Park and by the historic National Mall carousel.
Registration opens July 15 and closes September 15, with a registration fee of $25. On-site packet pickup and day-of registration are available, with a strict cutoff before the race for final registration and bib pickup so timing systems can be prepared.
The event offers awards for overall top finishers and age-group awards. Overall winners include the top three male and female finishers. Student age groups award the top three male and female finishers in each group, broken out as follows: Future Mustangs age 10 and under, Middle Schoolers ages 11 to 14, and High School/Alumni ages 15 to 18. Adult age-group awards are given for the top three male and female finishers in the ranges 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 plus.
The event involves volunteers and staff for course setup, packet handling, water stations, announcements, warm-ups, and post-event cleanup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
