Musser Madness endurance race : Camp Hart, Pennsburg PA
Musser Madness is a set of timed trail events held at Hart Scout Reservation, a rustic Boy Scout camp along Unami Creek. The site is a preserved open space with natural forested terrain.
Event formats include multiple timed and non-timed options:
- 12 hour event, distance listed as 6.2 Miles
- 6 hour event, distance listed as 6.2 Miles
- 4 hour event, distance listed as 2 Miles
- 6 mile hike
- Virtual event, proceeds support the local scouting council
Trails are primarily mostly double-track with some single-track sections. Runners can expect natural trail features such as tree roots, rocks, dirt, mud, and abundant shade. The course contains hills and elevation changes. Loop distances are to be determined based on trail conditions and access to former camp property.
There will be one aid station providing carbohydrates, fruit, water, Gatorade, soda, and hot food for refueling. Parking may be about a quarter mile from the start/finish area; cars can be brought closer to the loop start/finish for easier access for runners and crew. Volunteers are sought to help clear trails prior to the event.
Last lap is at 5:30 pm and all runners must be off the course by 7:00 pm with no exceptions. Several events have defined registration opening and closing dates and listed registration fees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
