Musser Madness endurance race : Hart Scout Reservation, Pennsburg PA
Musser Madness is an endurance event held at Hart Scout Reservation along the Unami Creek. The venue is a rustic Boy Scout camp set in preserved open space with wooded trails and shade.
The course uses mostly double-track technical trails with some single-track sections. Runners will encounter tree roots, rocks, dirt, mud, and hill sections. Loop distances are expected to be around 6.2 miles, subject to change if the sale of one of the camps goes through.
There is one aid station supplying carbohydrates, fruits, water, Gatorade, and soda. Hot food will also be available for refueling during the event.
Parking may be located about a quarter mile from the start and finish area, although runners and crew will have the option to bring cars closer to the loop start and finish for easier access. Volunteers are requested before the race to help clear trails.
A recovery activity called Musser Revenge is planned for Sunday morning as a relaxed treasure hunt around Camp Hart. The event offers on-site and virtual options and includes multiple timed endurance events plus a 6 mile hike. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
