About the event
The Muskoka Marathon takes place in Bracebridge, Ontario, featuring a weekend of racing in early October. The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and offers certified courses, including a 2028 Boston Qualifier (BQ) marathon. The routes are designed to be flat and scenic, following the Muskoka River amidst autumn foliage.
All races start and finish at Santa's Village Theme Park. The event site features a live DJ and a master of ceremonies to manage the atmosphere. For participants in the full marathon, free shuttle bus services are provided from designated parking areas to the race site. Hydration stations are positioned every 2.5 km along the course to support runners.
Available distances include:
- Marathon (42.2 km)
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1.5 km (Kids' Run)
Participants receive a GPS-enabled race bib, a wooden finisher medallion, and digital time results. Adult race packages also include a running shoe bag with additional keepsakes. The marathon course is a double out-and-back route, while the other distances use a single out-and-back format. The event also serves as a fundraiser for Campfire Circle, an organization supporting children with serious illnesses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
