Course, logistics and safety
Most courses are out-and-back along the Muskoka River; the marathon is a double out-and-back that starts and finishes at Santa's Village. Hydration stations are placed every 2.5 km. Marathoners are shuttled by bus from free parking to Santa's Village, and the marathon has a five-hour cut-off time. Race packages include a GPS-enabled race bib, a wooden finisher's medallion, emailed time results, and a Muskoka Marathon running shoe bag with surprise swag.
Traffic management will use single-lane controls on Santa's Village Road, Beaumont Drive, and Wellington Street with certified flaggers and Ontario Provincial Police support. Organizers state that access to properties and businesses will be maintained throughout the event. Children under specific ages must be accompanied by a registered adult for the 10 km and 5 km races.
